The Minister of Government and Consumer Services has approved the regulatory amendment to adopt the 2018 Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and it will come into effect on May 16, 2019. Electrical work conducted after the effective date needs to meet its requirements. The 2018 edition of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code –which includes the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 plus several Ontario-specific amendments – reflects changes in technology and the marketplace, and incorporates feedback from stakeholders, technical reviews and new safety insights.
