Xodo lags a bit very now and then but it has never randomly crashed on me like drawboard. If you are using xodo don't forget to hit the 'save,' button often or the annotations won't stay. I have also tried using a wacom digitzer on a higher end PC with your software, although the crashes were less there was a lot of lag. I will definitely check back every once in a while, every time you update because Drawboard is undoubtedly the only fully featured and affordable app I know of.

Students get a discount on PDF Annotator. I paid something like $25 or $30 after the discount, so it's pricey but not as much so. But it's also not a Windows Store app like Drawboard. I was among those who lost Drawboard when upgrading to Windows 10, which seemed like a scam to me since I viewed the app as part of the Surface 3's price. If I clean install Windows in the future, at least I'll get PDF Annotator back since I have an executable and a serial number. So far PDF Annotator has been leaps better than Drawboard, which used to give me inconsistent inking, was slow, and had bad palm rejection, which is probably why I had trouble with ink just not appearing on screen.
